Initiated by the French, pétanque is played with metal balls and has similarities to bowls but is much quicker to play and played on any rough surface. Club sessions are on Sunday mornings, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and Wednesday mornings, from 10am to 12.30pm. Extra sessions take place on Wednesday evenings during the summer, from 6pm to 8.30pm.
Petanque is a game for all ages and often involves whole families. One of the club members has 2 granddaughters who both play for England Juniors! Why not come along and try your hand at the game during the Arundel Festival? On Wednesday 21st August, club members will be on hand from 10am to 12.30pm, and again from 6pm to 8.30pm, to help you try. All equipment will be provided.
You can also join any club session on Sundays or Wednesdays, and the first 5 visits are free. Joining the club costs £22 per year per adult and this fee includes becoming a social member of Arundel Football Club. Accompanied juniors play for free. A further fee of £10 is required to obtain a Petanque England licence that provides comprehensive insurance cover whilst playing on the Arundel pistes.
